The society recently took a coach on a day trip to the Lincolnshire Aviation Museum & Centre in East Kirkby.
Despite being 130 miles away, Easy Kirkby is linked to Wednesfield as this is where the Lancaster Bomber that crashed on Lichfield Road in 1945 was based and took off from on a training exercise on that fateful day.
The Society members that went on the trip were able to see East Kirkby’s RAF base looking pretty much as it did on the day and spent hours wandering around the various buildings, including the main hanger which homes one of the few still operational Lancasters.
The wealth of information available was truly astounding!
