Wednesfield History Society was formed by Ray Fellows and Simon Hamilton in 2009.

Ray first became interested in Wednesfield’s history when he purchased a book about the history of Wednesfield  written by John Smallshire in 1978.  From that day forward he was fascinated by the area’s rich heritage and began delivering local history talks around the area. Simon attended one of those talks and together they decided to seek out like-minded enthusiasts by forming a local history group.

The group meets every 2 months – currently at The Vine Inn at 11.30 am on a Wednesday –  and its aims are to celebrate the history of Wednesfield from its Saxon origins and medieval development, through the Industrial Revolution, and into modern times.  Membership is open to all and the fee is £2 per person per meeting.
